Solidarity / Hurricane Beryl - Mission accomplished for the Mascot

On July 22, Gwenaëlle and Sébastien boarded the Mascot in Gustavia, with a cargo of donations collected in Saint-Barth to help the victims of Hurricane Beryl in the Grenadines on July 1. Yesterday, Monday July 29, the Mascot docked at Petite Martinique, a Grenadian island near Carriacou. Hundreds of packs of mineral water, generators, foodstuffs and other equipment were quickly unloaded onto the quay. Gwenaëlle and Sébastien had answered the call from the organizers of the West Indies Regatta in Saint-Barth. The latter had asked the West Indies ships to stop in Gustavia to take on board the donations collected by the organization, as well as by the Lions Club and Rotary. Some captains were unable to respond, as the holds of their ships were already filled with goods destined for the Grenadines. The arrival of the Mascot, welcomed on July 22 by Lorraine Rétif and part of the West Indies Regatta team on the Quai d'Honneur in the port of Gustavia (as well as the presidents of the Lions Club and Rotary of Saint-Barth), was seen as a godsend. After Martinique, the Mascot will be landing in Windward and Carriacou.

On a so-called "social" network, sailor Gwenaëlle Robic gave a heartfelt shout-out on the day the Mascot's cargo was delivered to Petite Martinique. "Mission accomplished", she wrote. A few days earlier, the West Indies Regatta had published thanks to all the people and organizations who had donated to them for the Grenadines. "A big thank you to the West Indies Saint-Barth team, insists Lorraine Rétif for the organization. Thierry and Valentine De Badereau, Jérôme Cohendet... Many thanks to you all! Tess, StBarth Provider, La Croix Rouge, Eden Rock , the Rotary Club, Caroline Gicquel, Solal, Louis Jean-Yves, JB and Malvina, Philippe Querrard, CCPF and MS, Agirep, Odile Magras and her husband, Loulou and Jenny, Joann des Artisans, Fabrice and Elsa. And I hope I haven't forgotten anyone... So many people have given..." And he concludes with another appeal: "If other boats want to stop in Saint-Barth, know that your holds will be full... Please contact us!" To do so, one e-mail address: westindiesregatta@gmail.com
