Caribbean 2026 Exercise for the Hurricane Season

As part of the start of hurricane season and the field phase of the joint exercise “Caribbean 2026,” the Departmental Operations Center (COD) was formally activated on Monday, June 1, under the authority of Prefect Cyrille le Vely. The objective of the exercise is to test, under real-world conditions, the chain of command, interagency coordination (armed forces, emergency services, local authorities, civil security, gendarmerie), and responsiveness to major risks. While the exercises were conducted in Saint Martin, military aircraft were observed flying over Saint Barthélemy. An army helicopter landed on Wednesday, June 3, on the tarmac at Rémy-de-Haenen Airport.
Of note, during the official launch of the hurricane season, Eden Gréaux—head of the civil protection department within the STIS of Saint-Barthélemy and a specialist in natural hazards and their prevention—was present in Saint-Martin.
