Since February 15, the Wall House Territorial Museum has been presenting an exhibition of photographs taken by two Belgian Surrealist artists, René Magritte and Marcel Mariën. The exhibition features some sixty original photographs taken by the two artists, covering the period from 1918 to 1990. "They explore the artists' relationship with creation, art history, society and poetry", explains museum director Charles Moreau. As part of this exhibition, the museum welcomes Marie Godet, a doctor of art history specializing in Surrealism. On Wednesday March 12 and Saturday March 15 at 5 p.m., Marie Godet will lead two guided tours open to all. In addition, on a date yet to be decided, she will chair a conference on the theme of Surrealism.
At the same time, the Wall House will be organizing workshops around the exhibition, on Wednesday March 12 at 5pm. The workshops are aimed at children aged eight and over. Florence Chrétien Bournonville, professor of art history, design and architecture, will lead this introduction to art history.
All the photographs are on loan to Wall House from the Collection Retelet and the Collection Brachot. In addition, a film made in 1942 by René Magritte with the help of Paul Nougé will also be shown. The film is on loan to the Wall House from Belgium's Royal Museums of Fine Arts. Finally, for the first time, the Wall House Territorial Museum will publish a catalog of the exhibition.
