A chase between two magicians, extraordinary characters, unbelievable stories... Throughout last week, the schoolchildren and young college students of Saint-Barthélemy were able to immerse themselves in marvellous worlds. Thanks to the talent of storyteller Anne-Gaël Gauducheau and musician Ludovic Hellet. At the Théâtre du Paradis and in schools, the two artists used their talents to take the island's children on a storytelling adventure. With great success! Storytelling is first and foremost about orality, and therefore about relationships," explains Anne-Gaël Gauducheau. After almost disappearing in the 1970s with the traditional storytellers, storytelling reappeared in the 1990s, and today we're seeing a real development. Storytelling is very much alive! "The reactions of Saint-Barthélemy's children to our shows are proof of this. Storytelling will continue to develop for a very simple reason," assures the storyteller by trade. A story can be told just as well on a national stage as under a mango tree! We can reach out to very different audiences. "Or how to rediscover the power of the imagination. "Anne-Gaël Gauducheau insists: "With all the technology out there, people want to be in front of something simple.
To conclude her stay in Saint-Barthélemy, the storyteller shared her knowledge and art of storytelling with primary and elementary school teachers on Wednesday January 22. For if storytelling has a future, it can only be through transmission.
