Un “Friendship Day” entre Saint-Thomas et Saint-Barth

Another step toward strengthening ties between St. Thomas and St. Barths. Marie-Angèle Aubin and Fabrice Querrard traveled to St. Thomas for French Heritage Week. One of the goals of this visit was, of course, to participate in the festivities organized to honor the heritage of the French community in the U.S. Virgin Islands (JSB 1673). The governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Albert Bryan Jr., took advantage of their visit to establish “Friendship Day” between Saint Barthélemy and Saint Thomas. The details of this day are still to be worked out, notes Fabrice Querrard. The elected officials used this trip to build a network of contacts, particularly in the fields of sports and agriculture, and, of course, to meet with the French community in St. Thomas and the descendants of Saint-Barthélemy’s original inhabitants. “A particularly warm community, very motivated and eager to strengthen these historic ties,” says Fabrice Querrard. “In fact, it was their commitment and willingness to engage that made these meetings so enriching.”
