New Year's Eve: shuttle buses, extra parking and security arrangements

While Gustavia's establishments will be packed with festive customers and the streets will undoubtedly be taken over by locals and tourists alike, the forecourt of the Hôtel de la Collectivité Territoriale will play host to a major concert. The line-up will include Kassav' and Kalash, whose popularity is well established. Consequently, the organizer of the event, the Collectivité territoriale, must ensure that everyone's safety is guaranteed.
For transport, which will be tricky in Gustavia on Wednesday December 31, a shuttle service will be available from 8pm to 4am. Vehicles will rotate between the Saint-Jean stadium and Gustavia.
In addition, the Collectivité specifies that the Port de Commerce parking lot will be accessible, as will Gustavia's public parking lots. Access to the Pointe will be regulated from Rue des Marins and reserved exclusively for shuttles, emergency vehicles, members of the organization, artists, residents and people with reduced mobility. It's vital that everyone realizes that the success and beauty of the show depend on everyone's contribution," insists the local authority. In particular, it will be advisable to give priority to accessing Gustavia on foot, and to make use of car pooling. "
In terms of personal safety, the local authority has announced that "18 security personnel" will be deployed in the concert area. The team will include two BNSSA (French national aquatic safety and rescue certificate) holders, as well as eight staff from the Saint-Martin civil security association. "This arrangement meets the legal obligations associated with this type of event", insists the Collectivité.
At the same time, military personnel from the Saint-Barthélemy Gendarmerie Brigade will be mobilized throughout the evening and night. As will the teams of the Service territorial d'incendie et de secours.
