Over the past few months, the Saint-Barthélemy market has continued to attract locals and tourists alike, but has often lacked a hint of energy. As a result, enthusiasm for the market was becoming increasingly relative. For the first Sunday in April, the Comité du Tourisme decided to add a touch of authenticity and dynamism to the event. A stall was set up where passers-by could taste fresh coconuts and freshly squeezed cane juice. The Pineapple Girls also made an eye-catching appearance in the middle of rue du Général de Gaulle, as did the New Orleans parade organized by the Saint-B'Art association as part of the Livre et Jazz Festival, with the Bitin Brass Band.
In addition to the usual merchants and craftsmen, visitors were able to stop in front of the space reserved by theSB Artists association to promote the Theater Festival, which runs from May 30 to June 8, as well as the participatory campaign to purchase seats at Gustavia's Théâtre du Paradis.
