Saint-Barth - marché golden team

Carnival at the Market

There was a hint of carnival in the air at the season’s first market. On Sunday, October 4, amid the stalls of merchants, artisans, and restaurant owners set up along Rue du Général de Gaulle, two carnival groups sold cakes and other sweets. With smiles on their faces, a handful of ladies from the Golden Team worked hard to raise a little money to fund their participation in the upcoming Saint-Barthélemy parade. Not far from their booth, another group had set up shop. This one was new: Tropical Pulse. Behind the makeshift counter stood the group’s president, Julie Questel. “We’re here to raise funds so we can participate in the 2027 carnival,” the young woman explained. “There are about thirty of us in the association.” This fundraising effort will continue over the coming months, right up until the date of the grand parade.

In the meantime, the Carnival Committee will hold a general meeting on Wednesday, October 28, at 5:30 p.m. at the Gustavia Harbor Master’s Office. This “GM” is open to everyone.
