The 2026 edition of the Festival des Écritures des Amériques will take place in Guadeloupe from November 23 to 28. As it does every year, the Saint-B’Art association, a partner of this event, will host two of the guest authors in Saint-Barthélemy. Through posts on a so-called “social” network, the identities of the two authors who will be meeting with readers on the island have been revealed. They are Karina Sainz Borgo and Jean-Luc Coatalem.
A Venezuelan journalist and writer, Karina Sainz Borgo won the 2020 Madame Figaro Grand Prix in the foreign novel category for her book titled “La fille de l’Espagnole.” She is also the author of *Le tiers pays*, which takes readers to the frontiers of Latin America, tracing the paths of exile, violence, and resistance.
Jean-Luc Coatalem is a French journalist and writer. A traveler, novelist, short-story writer, and essayist, he has won several awards, including the Prix de la Langue Française, the Prix Femina for essays, and the Jean Giono Grand Prize. The author of more than twenty books, he will be in Saint-Barth to present his new novel, *Tête brulée*, published on August 19 by Stock. “From Brest to Fez, from Saigon to Algiers, Jean-Luc Coatalem paints the portrait of an eternal outcast, caught between daring and evasion, commitment and deception,” writes the Saint-Barth Association. “An adventure novel, but also a reflection on legacies, pretense, and those individual destinies that sometimes intersect with the course of history.”
Karina Sainz Borgo and Jean-Luc Coatalem will meet with readers in Saint Barth during a talk that, as it does every year, is scheduled to take place in the courtyard of the Musée du Patrimoine du Brigantin in Gustavia.
