The Saint Bartholomew's Day celebration will take place on Sunday August 24. As usual, it will combine a formal part, with a ceremony and speeches, with a more festive part, featuring entertainment on the Collectivité's forecourt.
The day will begin with a sailors' mass at 8.30am in the Church of Notre Dame de l'Assomption. It will be followed by a procession. At 10:30 a.m., wreaths will be laid at the foot of the war memorial, opposite the main entrance to the Hôtel de la Collectivité territoriale. After the ceremony, the "officials" will gather in the Salle des délibérations for speeches.
The MP for Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, Frantz Gumbs, the Senator for Saint-Barthélemy, Micheline Jacques, the Préfet Cyrille Le Vely and the President of the Collectivité territoriale, Xavier Lédée, are all expected to take turns at the microphone. Other speakers from Guadeloupe and neighboring islands are also expected. The solemn moment of the speeches should be lightened by a vin d'honneur on the terrace of the Hôtel de la Collectivité, while the entertainment will have already begun on the forecourt below.
