The Christmas Village set up by the Comité du Tourisme on the forecourt of the Wall House Territorial Museum and the Hôtel de la Collectivité, in La Pointe, opens this Friday evening for a final weekend of festivities. As in the previous two weeks, artisans and shopkeepers will be setting up stalls in front of the museum to welcome visitors, while a food court awaits the public under the windows of the Collectivité. For this final weekend, the parents' association (Apel) will be manning the refreshment stand.
On Friday, December 20, the event kicks off at 7 p.m. with a treasure hunt organized by the business association (see opposite), followed by the traditional Chanté Nwel with the Christmas truck passing by between 8 and 10 p.m. From 6 to 8 p.m., the Nomade group will provide musical entertainment in the Village. And from 5 to 8 p.m. (Friday and tomorrow, Saturday), a Christmas star-making workshop will be open to all.
On Saturday, from 8.30 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Ambyans group will be in charge of keeping the Village alive with visitors coming and going.
Finally, on Sunday, Santa Claus returns from 4 to 6 p.m. for a photo session with the children. From 7 to 9 p.m., the Bande à Nono will perform a Chanté Nwel before the Jolly Boys continue with their own Christmas carols. From 5 to 8 p.m., a Christmas cookie decorating workshop will be held in the Village.
Christmas accessory competition
From Friday to Sunday, the CTTSB is inviting the public to take part in a competition to find the most beautiful Christmas accessory. All you have to do is come to the Village with an accessory. "A Village elf will be there to immortalize your visit with a photo and validate your entry," explains the BSTTC. These photos will then be published as a permanent "story" on the Committee's Instagram account. The photo with the most "likes" will earn the accessory holder a prize from the Comité du Tourisme. Votes will be open until 3pm on December 23. "On the morning of December 25, the magic of Christmas will reveal the winner's name on our Instagram account", says the CTTSB.
A shuttle bus all weekend
To facilitate travel and access to the Christmas Village throughout the weekend, free shuttles will be available to the public on Friday and Saturday from 7pm. With special stops for the Nocturne des commerçants on Friday December 20 in front of the Select and the territorial police.
The round-trip stops for this Friday are: the parking lot opposite Pearl Beach (Saint-Jean), Le Select in Gustavia, the Christmas Village in La Pointe and the Territorial Police in Gustavia.
