From the very first notes, you can feel Caroline A. Rivas' passion for music. This June, the Franco-Colombian artist returns with Authentique, a new album of Latin and French sounds, where she reveals her emotions with simplicity. This intimate project marks a new stage in her career. Since her debut, Caroline A. Rivas has pursued her career as a solo artist, away from the majors and record companies. Self-produced, self-distributed, self-promoted: a triple challenge she takes up with conviction. "I've done it all on my own, really," she says proudly. Her first album, Tu peux, was already nourished by Latin influences and French variety, and was well received on the radio. But the adventure wasn't easy. "It was too heterogeneous. "
Despite the obstacles, she persevered. With no press attaché or manager, Caroline took on every role: composer, editor, communicator. "I spent four hours listing all the French-language radio stations, classifying them and writing to them one by one," she says lucidly. "But I was disappointed by the feedback and the unfairness of the system," she continues. The income she received via Sacem (the French society of authors, composers and music publishers) was immediately reinvested in Groover, a music promotion platform, where she learned on the job. I thought that once a song was on the air, everything would follow," she recounts, half amused, half bitter. I released a song about aliens... a total failure! "
With Authentique, she goes back to basics. Eight tracks, including six with a Latin flavour, celebrating intimacy, energy and joy. "Compared with the first album, it's a lot lighter," she explains. True to her method, she composes alone at the piano, often at night. I receive the songs as if they were dictated to me," she confides, "I'm a channel. "This time, she wanted to concentrate entirely on the music, letting her instincts and feelings speak for themselves, to come up with an album that deeply resembles her. To create Authentique, Caroline A. Rivas surrounded herself with freelancers found on the Fiverr application (an online marketplace for independent workers in the music world). "A cover for 50 dollars instead of 500 euros, an arranger in Italy, a mixer in Serbia... she explains. I was able to produce the album on a budget. ". Among her tracks, two stand out for her. Firstly, "Authentique", which she considers the closest to who she is. And "Car moi j'aime la vie", her favorite. He makes me feel good," she says. He's super jovial. I listen to him and it makes me feel good. "
