Carnival: schoolchildren take Gustavia by storm

Watch out, they're coming to town! This Friday, February 6, they will invade part of Gustavia throughout the afternoon. Tourists? No. Although there will certainly be some there to admire the show. It is the island's children who will take to the streets, dressed in colorful costumes and surrounded by music, for the school carnival parade. An event in which all the island's schools will take part.
To ensure that the gathering of several hundred schoolchildren takes place in the best possible conditions, a very precise organization has been put in place. This applies both to the parade itself and to the residents of the town and road users. It will be in effect from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. For example, throughout the parade, road users wishing to reach Pointe will have to go via Lurin. This is simply because the streets crossed by the parade will be closed to traffic. There will also be no access from Rue de la République.
At 2 p.m., the pupils of Gustavia nursery school will gather in front of the school before making their way to the primary school via Rue de la Plage and Rue de l'Église. From 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., the nursery school pupils will perform five choreographed routines on the section of Rue de l'Église between Rue Victor Hugo and Rue Adrien Questel.
Meanwhile, pupils from Saint-Joseph de Lorient and Sainte-Marie de Colombier will gather on Quai du Général de Gaulle between 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. At that precise moment, the procession of children from Lorient and Colombier will set off along Rue du Bord de Mer to Rue Samuel Fahlberg. They will then join the schoolchildren from Gustavia to form a large parade.
The schoolchildren from Lorient and Colombier will lead the parade. It will proceed along Rue Samuel Fahlberg, Rue Oscar II, and Rue de la Suède until it reaches the entrance to Quai du Général de Gaulle.
At this stage, the pupils from Gustavia primary school will perform six choreographed routines. They will then continue along the coastal road, the Quichenotte crossroads, Rue Adrien Questel and finally arrive at the primary school.
The Territorial Collectivity asks parents and other users not to obstruct these routes with their vehicles, to limit their travel, and to refer to the guidelines set out in the territorial decree. They should also follow the instructions given to them by the territorial police officers present along the route.
In addition, parking is recommended in adjacent streets and car parks that will be accessible during the parade. In particular, those located at the entrance to Gustavia and in the Pointe area.
This will allow the timoun to parade in a joyful and completely safe manner.

In addition, the shuttle bus that runs between Saint-Jean and Gustavia will follow a "special" route this Friday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. It will depart from the stadium and stop at Public and La Maison Pélican (Gustavia) before returning to the stadium.

The Pineapple Girls kick off the carnival!
On Saturday evening, the Pineapple Girls association invites the public to join its "Opening Carnival Caribbean Roots Edition" party on the forecourt of the Territorial Collectivity hotel. The event will start at 7 p.m. and is expected to end around midnight. The Pineapple Girls will be there, of course, but also five DJs: Eyedol, Matthias, Maestro, Speyenol, and Big Boss.

The Youngz parade in red, yellow, and green
As they have done every week since January 17, the carnival committee and The Youngz association invite the public to join their parade through the streets of Gustavia this Saturday. The meeting point and time remain the same: the Pif-Paf kiosk at 8 p.m. This week's theme is red, yellow, and green.
