Saint-Barth - Carnaval

After a setback, The Youngz and their Saturday debuts are back!

On January 18, The Youngz association launched the first carnival parade through the streets of Gustavia on the theme of "black and madras". The event was to have continued on Saturday January 25 with a second parade on a "military" theme. Unfortunately, the organizers were unable to submit their requests for authorization to the prefectural authorities on time, and were forced to cancel the parade. But not the party, as the band played at Pif-Paf, in Gustavia, for those who came to take part in the event. The lack of authorization for the parade provoked a wave of protests. Particularly online. Fortunately, for The Youngz, the disappointment was received with wisdom and serenity.

"It's only a postponement! "
Thus, the day after the "incident", Steve Césaire reacted on his Facebook page to calmly explain the situation. It's a silly thing," he says, "but it's not definitive. We Youngz had a deadline to give all our release dates. On January 18, we still didn't have the authorization signed by the prefecture. We didn't know. As a result, we didn't get authorization to march on Saturday (January 25, editor's note). It was a bit sad, but we wanted to play for the people who were there. We followed the advice of the Collectivité, in particular Dimitri Lédée, who advised us to write a letter so that we could play on site. When you can't have the maximum, you make do with the minimum. With all the people there, a parade would have been great. But it doesn't matter, it's only a postponement! "Philosophically, Steve Césaire explains that he takes the ban on marching on Saturday 25 as "a punishment", but he tempers it: "It could have been worse. We could have not played at all. It didn't happen, so much the better. "Just a little setback, in short.
This Saturday, The Youngz will be able to resume their debuts and lead all carnival fans with fervor to the start of the big festivities on March 4 (Shrove Tuesday), and their end on March 5, Ash Wednesday.
The Saturday parade program is as follows: February 1 ("Tourist" theme), February 8 ("Footballer/Basketball player"), February 15 ("Red, yellow, green"), February 16 ("Red, yellow, green") and February 17 ("Red, yellow, green"). Red, yellow, green"), February 22 ("Mété mass A-W", "Mets ton masque"), Monday March 3 ("Pyjamas"). And Steve Césaire invites everyone to join the parade. "Come and play with us, we're not savages! We like music and having fun. You're welcome to join us. Come with your joy and good humor. "
The rendezvous is set for 8 p.m. this Saturday, in front of Pif-Paf.
