Saint-Barth - Festival de musique

42nd Music Festival: A delightful finale to round off the event in style

Chopin, Madame Butterfly, jazz, and bossa nova... For its grand finale, the 42nd edition of the Music Festival opens up like never before to a variety of rhythmic worlds.

It all began with light steps, graceful lifts, and enchanting flights. Then came the captivating chords, the laughter of children, and the majesty of the orchestra. Since January 9, the 42nd edition of the Music Festival, put together by Corinne Hennequin and her team, has continued to surprise and delight. From the eight dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet to the musical performances in the island's churches, each evening has brought a touch of magic to the audience. And the delight is far from over.

To open the 42nd Saint Barthélemy Music Festival, eight dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet gave two captivating performances on the Ajoe stage in Lorient. Photos: DR, Laura Prioul.

This Thursday and tomorrow, Friday, the island's Catholic churches will host the festival's last two "classical" events. Tonight in Gustavia, Laura Fraustchi and Christopher Wu (violins), Francis Gouton (cello), Nina Bernat (double bass), and Rebecca Young (viola) will accompany pianist Alexej Gorlatch at 7:30 p.m. for a recital dedicated to the works of Chopin.
Tomorrow, Friday, the Lorient church will host an event eagerly awaited by many music lovers: an evening of opera. Under the baton of conductor Mimma Campanale, Izabella Matula will perform Puccini's famous "Madame Butterfly" alongside ten other renowned opera singers. The performance will begin at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, there will be a change of scene with Angela Grey's quintet. Accompanied by her four musicians (Gustave Reichert on guitar, Luca Fattorini on double bass, Simon Chivallon on piano, and Malte Arndal on drums), the singer with a deep voice and warm tone will captivate the audience at the Anglican Church in Gustavia starting at 7:30 p.m.
Finally, also at the Anglican Church, the closing night will belong to the young (23-year-old) Brazilian guitarist Will Sant. On Monday, January 19, starting at 7:30 p.m., he will conclude the 42nd edition of the festival with bossa nova notes, of which he is the rising star. A sweet and gentle finale, to approach with flavor and delicacy the long months that will separate Saint Barth from the 2027 festival.

Tickets are available online on the St. Barth Music Festival website . Tickets are sent by email.
