For the past four years, Christine Moizan has held the position of President of the Red Cross regional delegation in Saint-Barthélemy. Four years, the length of a mandate. From March 20 to 24, the association will be renewing its board. While Christine Moizan intends to continue her work with the delegation as a volunteer, she will not be standing for re-election as president. The Red Cross is therefore looking for a good soul with the right profile to bring new energy to the delegation.
I want to stay with the team," insists the president. But I think we need to find someone with a new vision who can inject a new dynamism, a new impetus. And then those who are in the office will also remain volunteers, so the delegation will be part of continuity, with reinforcement. "
"Joining a family
In March, the positions to be filled will be those of president, treasurer and secretary. "Being president means assisting the members of the board, steering all volunteer activities in the territory, but also following the decisions of the board as well as those of national bodies and making sure they are applied," sums up Christine Moizan. The profile sought to preside over the actions of the community of 43 volunteers making up the Saint-Barthélemy delegation is that ofa woman or a man with good interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of a team, to lead and supervise. Not forgetting a certain availability! The work of the Red Cross in Saint-Barth is multifaceted. It encompasses social, educational and first-aid activities, as well as emergency prevention. Cyclonic emergencies, for example.
The idea is really to join a great team, a family," confides the president. When you join the Red Cross, you become part of a group. It's very exciting. Bringing new energy to the delegation would be a great gift. "From her experience at the head of the association, Christine Moizan retains her learning curve. When I arrived, I knew very little about the Red Cross," she says. I'd only been secretary for two years. I learned a lot about myself. I had to get out of my comfort zone, especially when it came to interacting with institutions. I've made some wonderful encounters. I've been enriched by contact with people I probably wouldn't have met in my circle of life. "
In 2024, the Red Cross celebrated 160 years of existence. It's an important force for action," insists Christine Moizan. This island needs an association like this. And we're not alone. The association's head office provides support, particularly in terms of training. We have resources and intranet support. It's a big machine. For example, for the president, treasurer and secretary, there will obviously be training. "
