As every year, the Festival écritures des Amériques takes place in Guadeloupe and the Northern Isles archipelago. The Saint-B'Art association is a partner in this event. An opportunity for literature lovers on Saint-Barthélemy to enjoy the presence of two authors every year. Last year, they were Frédéric Beigbeder and Miguel Bonnefoy, who this year was awarded the Prix Fémina for his book Le rêve du jaguar. This week, Julia Malye and Eric Chacour meet the Saint-Barthélemy public.
Julia Malye is the author of the novel La Louisiane. Born in Paris in 1994, she published her first novel, La Fiancée de Tocqueville (Balland Editions), at the age of 15. A graduate of Sciences Po and the Sorbonne in social sciences and modern literature, she also holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Oregon State University. She translates from English for Les Belles Lettres and, since 2018, teaches fiction writing at Sciences Po. La Louisiane is her fourth novel. "A French novel written with the breath of an American novel," describes Julia Malye's editor.

Eric Chacour published Ce que je sais de toi in 2023. This is the first novel by this Quebec author, born in Montreal in 1983. It won the Prix Fémina des lycéens in 2023, the Prix des cinq continents de la Francophonie and the Prix des libraires 2024. It's the story of an impossible love," says the author. I wanted to tell that story. I wanted to tell the story of how a life can go off the rails. Because at some point, we saw a spark, and that spark, in my case, in the case of my character, was a love story. "

On Wednesday November 27 at 6.30pm, the two writers will welcome readers from around the island to the Heritage Museum, Le Brigantin, in Gustavia.
